My Grandfather, Phil Sanchez is shown seated in the Barber's chair at the San Carlos Hotel.
He was the General Manager for many years. He started working there shortly after the Hotel opened in 1910. As a very young boy, he was shining shoes on the sidewalk in front.
The management admired this and hired him as a greeter and fitted
him with a Bell Hop's outfit.
